Firebird (Win32) 2.5 is a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS).
This relational database accomplish with the current SQL standard.

It’s a very stable and functional database, offering to choose among Super Server and Classic Server version during its installation process. It doesn't include any GUI so all the management must be performed with commands and statements using a command tool named isql (of course, without using 3rd party apps).
You can configure Firebird to run as a Service or as an Application, starting it automatically or manually. Besides there are a couple of additional recommended items to install: the Guadian utility and the Control Panel Applet. Both of them will allow you a better control and server monitoring. However, Guardian is not available for Classic Server running as a service. Super Server uses a single process for all connections while Classic Server creates a process for each client. The Symmetrical multi-processor is only for Classic Server.
There is no GUI; however there are third party GUI options for a better management and administering of the Firebird databases. Its installation process is very easy to perform; select the properly options according to the needs or purpose of your database; take a look to the documentation before to install. Its documentation is installed with the RDBMS; there is also more documentation available on its website.
Firebird (Win32) runs in Windows platforms.
